Route 5 Lakes of the Dolomites

I invite you to ride on 5 stunning lakes of the Dolomites. For this you need 2 things. Good mood and transport. Well, good weather does not hurt, although there is a romance in the rain.

If you don’t have your own car, rent it at any airport of arrival via Rentalcars or build a route by public transport using my service.

Our starting point Hotel Monte Cherz . It is also convenient to start from the city of Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Let's start by warming up. This is a mini lake, I do not even think.

0. Lago di Valparola

Lago di valparola

On the way we make a stop near the lake Lago di Valparola. Convenient observation deck with parking near the restaurant Rifugio Passo Valparola (coordinates)

1. Lago di Misurina

Misurina Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. The coordinates of the lake. What can I say, all the lakes are beautiful if the mountains are reflected in them! You can read laudatory praises about beauty on other sites, and I give the necessary information.

Where to park the car? I drew a diagram. In August afternoon, paid parking was full. The cost is approximately € 1 per hour. We left free on the side of the road.

The bus to the lake runs along the route Calalzo - Cortina - Misurina - Auronzo - Calalzo. Schedule at dolomitibus.it

Organizational issues with transport decided. Let's go watch the lake. A path has been laid around the lake. The views from all sides are amazing.

Have a walk? Means time to dine with a view of the lake. To do this, go to the Seggiovia Col de Varda ski lift - the station can be seen in the photo.

We buy a round-trip ticket for € 11.50. Enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Upstairs, we are waiting for a restaurant with mountain views and a democratic menu.

Have you eaten up? We return to the lake, get in the car and stop at the parking lot 2. We take some more stunning photos of the lake and mountains.

I advise you to stay overnight near the lake in one of the hotels, for example, in a room with a balcony in Quinz Locanda Al Lago . Or at the luxurious Grand Hotel Misurina.

2. Lago d'Antorno

5 minutes by car is the next lake - Lago d'Antorno (coordinates). A bus from the previous lake also runs to him.

This lake is smaller, but more comfortable. A path is laid around. There are several photogenic bridges along the way. Ah, what mountains in the background! These are the legendary Tre Cime, around which we went to the track.

By the way, this is a view from the mountains to both lakes.

The lake is beautiful in any direction.

Near the lake free parking for 2 hours, just remember to leave the timer under glass.

We did not have a dial, so we parked in a forest 200m from the lake. Here you can leave the car for the whole day and walk in the mountains.

3. Lago di Landro

Arrived at Lago di Landro? It's time to swim! The water in the lake is warmer than in the neighboring ones.

We put on swimming trunks and swimwear. We dive into the water.

The lake has a great beach with mountain views. A path is laid around. We went around the lake in about 15 minutes.

Girls smeared with mud and lie in the water.

Near the lake there is a large free parking. There is a restaurant.

On the way to the next lake, stop at the lookout. From here you can see the peaks of Tre Cime.

4. Lago Di Dobbiaco

To the lake Dobbiaco managed to taxi only 2 times. The lapel in the parking lot slipped. Lena liked this lake the most.

In the distance, the mountains disperse, like a gate to the Dolomites.

Separately, I want to say about tricky parking. At the entrance, take a ticket. Before leaving, pay in the machine and leave. The price says that the tariffing is 30 minutes. We stood for 21 minutes, but the machine was ripped off in an hour. It came out inexpensively - € 1.

5. Lago di Braies

Lake Braies is the pearl of the whole trip. I left it for dessert. Favorite place for instagrammers, and many tourists. The first thing you feel when you come is WOW! And the second - "how many tourists are here!".

At the end of the day, tourists resolve, so come in the evening (the shadow is already coming) or in the morning.

We rented a boat. It costs € 12 per half hour or € 20 per hour.

I drove my wife. Romance! The view from the lake is especially stunning.

British teens jump from the rocks into the water. By the way, they swim in the lake. The water seemed cold to me.

But people are swimming. After all, it’s so cool to swim in an alpine lake in emerald water.

After the boat, take a walk along the promenade around the lake. The route is built interestingly. The path wags along the rocks, up and down.

Someone in a boat docked on a secret beach with stone pyramids and sunbathes.

Lena in the rays of the evening sun.

Nature created a masterpiece. Every angle, every angle is simply brilliant. There are no ugly corners in this lake. With each turn of the path, new landscapes open up. "Quick-tourists" do not reach here. We walked almost alone in private with nature.

At the end of the path is the modest chapel Chiesetta sul Lago di Braies.

The mountains.

Some practical information. There are several parking lots near the lake.

Plan for a walk on Lake Lago di Braies

Parking 1 near the hotel is very complicated tariffication. Approximately € 6 for the first 3 hours.

In parking 2, you just pay the parking attendant, like € 4-5.

We left the car for free in parking 3 (see map above). From it, about 800 meters to the lake.

For restaurants near the lake is not rich. Only near the hotel. I enclose the menu:

There is a sign that it is forbidden to fly a drone, so there are no photos from the air.

1 day trip itinerary

Dolomites trip itinerary

You can’t go around the bus in 1 day, but in a few days it’s real. The main thing is not to rush headlong, but to stay in hotels right by the lakes. Everything is much simpler with the car, only know - move from one lake to another. Take the proud Cortina d'Amprezzo as your starting point.

How do I save on hotels?

Everything is very simple - look not only at the booking. I prefer the search engine RoomGuru. He is looking for discounts at the same time on Booking and on 70 other booking sites.

Job interview in Italy - can I come with my mom?

Appearing for an interview with parents may seem strange to anyone, but not to a modern Italian. Has the situation really gone so far? It turns out that Italians continue to “hold on to their mother’s skirt,” even when it comes to getting a job. At least every fourth Italian comes for an interview with his parents, most often with his mother.
