10 places for a honeymoon in Italy

Italy and France are the first words that come to mind when it comes to the honeymoon in Europe. Italy is rightfully considered one of the most romantic countries with a huge number of picturesque places, rich history, delicious cuisine and a special atmosphere. We tried to choose the top ten places for a honeymoon in Italy, after visiting which you will have only the warmest and most positive memories.

Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is an amazing place from where you can enjoy breathtaking landscapes: crystal clear water, olive trees, vineyards and lemon groves. The luxurious resorts of Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello are located on the luxurious coast. Ravello is a fairly quiet and small resort town with incomparable views of the Mediterranean Sea. Richard Wagner was overwhelmed and inspired by Ravello, describing it as the place closest to paradise.

Venice (Venezia)

The dazzling beauty of this city on the water did not leave indifferent such talented people as Vivaldi, Hemingway, Wagner, and Lord Byron. Truman Capote wrote about Venice: "Venice tastes like a whole box of chocolate with liquor filling, eaten at a time." This city is actually a very romantic place that everyone and everyone must visit. The incomparable Venetian bridges, gondolas, narrow streets and small houses will leave a deep mark on everyone’s heart.

Lake Como (Lago Como)

Even before George Clooney called Lake Como his Italian home, many fell in love with this place. It is here that silence and a sense of peace soar right above the blue water. It is here that you can get incomparable pleasure from a walk along the streets of coastal cities, from shopping and, finally, from a wonderful dinner in one of the cozy restaurants.

Tuscany (Toscana)

After spending a honeymoon in Tuscany, you will understand why so many artists constantly depict local landscapes in their paintings. Florence, the administrative center of Tuscany, which is called the "diamond in the crown of the Renaissance", is rightfully considered the romantic capital of the region. It seems that you will not be disappointed in it, no matter what you do: wandering the streets, visiting medieval castles and art galleries, tasting local varieties of cheese and wine.

Tuscany offers the newlyweds many wonderful places: Florence, Lucca, San Gimignano, Siena, Montalcino, Montepuciano, Pienza, Chianti, Cortona and many more others.

Umbria

Between the Eternal City and romantic Tuscany lies the Umbria region - the "green" heart of Italy. American writer Henry James recalled Umbria as the "most beautiful garden in the world." An ideal location, a variety of terrain, unexplored places - all this is the Umbria region. You can definitely spend your honeymoon here: you cannot but like the combination of amazing landscapes, local dishes and amazing architecture. And the cities of Orvieto, Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Spoleto and Bevagna will charm you forever.

Italian Riviera (Riviera italiana)

This name is the coast of the Liguria region. Here you will find cozy houses almost at the very edge of the water, small villages, the local population of which is fishing, as well as beautiful bays and harbors.
The picturesque city of Portofino is perhaps the most famous on the riviera, and the resort of Santa Margherita Ligure is distinguished by its unique atmosphere and very affordable prices.

Cinque Terre

The Cinque Terre venue is also part of the Italian Riviera, but it has a completely different atmosphere. A beautiful national park extends along the coast for 18 kilometers, collecting five villages on its way: Monterosso al Mare, Monastery of Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. In the Cinque Terre, you will have plenty of options for spending your free time: horseback riding and climbing are just some of them. Lovers of passive relaxation will be able to spend their honeymoon, afternoon sunbathing on the Cote d'Azur in the afternoon, and in the evening enjoying a wonderful dinner in a cozy cafe.

Piedmont (Piemonte)

Piedmont is a region famous for its mountains, the wonderful wines of Barolo and Barbaresco, as well as delicious chocolate. Once upon a time there was the Duchy of Savoy in this area, so today in Piedmont you can find many palaces, castles and wine yards. Despite the fact that the region develops mainly due to agriculture, Turin, the administrative center of Piedmont, is a quite modern city, where the current era successfully coexists with the previous ones, as eloquently testified to by local architecture.

Lago Maggiore

This lake is the second largest in Italy. It divides the regions of Lombardy and Piedmont and crosses the border with Switzerland. You can even try to combine your holiday on Lago Maggiore and Lake Como, or you can just enjoy your honeymoon on Maggiore. There are several islands on the lake, including the picturesque islands of Borromeo (Isole Borromee). The small towns of Baveno and Stresa will delight you with their surprisingly romantic atmosphere, and architecture with echoes from the past will delight your eye.

Rome

Probably few will think about the opportunity to go on a honeymoon to the capital of Italy, trying to avoid the city bustle. However, the Eternal City is a great choice. Inspiring masterpieces of art, majestic architecture, an interesting story can not leave anyone indifferent. Rome is close enough to the coasts of Sorrento and Amalfi, so if you wish, you can dilute the active pastime in Rome with the passive one on the sandy beaches.
